Phil dedicated his life to helping others. He wanted people to be happy and healthy. For 30+ years he worked to make our community a better place to live.
He took time to teach us about social capital and Phil had so much of that. Lifelong friends from all over know the legacy that he left.
We extend our condolences to his wife Bonnie and all of his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Phil.
You helped so much more than you will ever know. Thank you Phil!
IN MEMORY AND HONOR OF PHIL HABERSTRO
The Healthy Communities Movement began in America in 1989, and is a global movement to address community health and quality of life. The Healthy Communities Movement is a strategic and comprehensive method to improve community health because it focuses on the social, environmental, economic, and human health dimensions that contribute to a community’s health!
Social/Civic Capital
Social Capital is the networks of relationships and social supports we have based on norms of trust and reciprocity. Positive Social Capital is associated with positive health!
Human Capital
Human ‘Capital’ is best measured by human health! This health is multidimensional: it includes physical, mental, social, and emotional health to support healthy and happy communities!
Economic Capital
Our economy influences our health and quality of life through (un)employment, stress, mental health, and access to healthy foods and safety!
Environmental Capital
Our environment incorporates our air, water, and soil quality, and also focuses on our built environment like sidewalk safety, access to healthy grocery stores and quality schools!
