  • BNMC Lung Force Walk Ends!

    BNMC Lung Force Walk Ends!

    All day
    October 2, 2020

For the month of September BNMC is participating in the virtual LUNGForce walk being hosted by The American Lung Association. This normally is an in-person event, with various stops along the walk route to learn about lung health and participate in challenges. The ALA is trying a virtual walk this year and we decided this would be a nice opportunity to create a team specific to members of this group. You can sign up anytime throughout the month, but the sooner the better!

How it works: Once you register, you have the entire month to complete the different tasks in the Action Passport (attached). The tasks include signing a petition to support lung health, completing a lung health trivia quiz, going for a walk with a friend, and more. To get credit, you can either post your completed tasks in their LUNG FORCE Facebook Group<https://www.facebook.com/groups/LFWalkBuffalo/> or email Alexis (Alexis.Gigliello@lung.org) directly. For each completed task you are entered to receive a prize.

  • National Walk to School Day!

    National Walk to School Day!

    All day
    October 7, 2020

It’s almost time to lace up our shoes for National Walk to School Day! Communities across the country will be celebrating the 24th annual event together – from a distance – on Oct. 7, 2020. Families, neighborhoods and schools can all register this year, so you can participate whether your school is meeting in-person or online.

Get in on the excitement by registering today! While Oct. 7 is officially Walk to School Day this year, you are welcome to celebrate any day in October that works best for your schedule.

To continue the tradition of togetherness that makes Walk to School Day so powerful, we’re inviting kids and adults from across the country to film a 15-30 second video describing why they plan to walk, whether the goal is promoting physical activity, advancing road safety, celebrating the benefits of walking, strengthening community connections or something else.

To join the fun, record a 15-30 second video answering the following prompt: “This is [NAME(S)] from [STATE] and I’m walking because…” Then, post the video on your social media account and tag us on Facebook (@walkbiketoschoolday), Instagram  (@walkbikeschool) or Twitter (@walkbikeschool). Include #WalktoSchoolDay in your post to contribute to the digital Walk to School Day 2020 community.
